    Watching this I kept thinking about Jurassic Park for some reason😂. "A hundred million years ago, there were maw-sqeetoes, just like today. And just like today, they fed on the blood of animals. Even din-a-saws! Sometimes, after bitin' a din-a-saw, the maw-sqeeto would land on the branch of a tree, and get stuck in the sap. After a long, long time, the sap got hardened and became fossilized, just like a din-a-saw bone, preservin' the maw-sqeeto inside. This fossilized tree sap, which we call "am-buh", waited millions of years with the maw-sqeeto inside until Jurassic Park scientists came along. Using so-phis-ti-cated techniques, they extract the preserved blood and... bingo! DIE-KNOW DEE IN AYE!"

    The part 2 video was just as good as the Part 1 video. Your wife working the camera has done a fantastic job with close - ups that really showed what you were doing. I want to thank you for the information you provided on the fact that when you have a refrigerant leak you will lose oil in your accumulator and in your compressor. You also showed me how to test the system for pressure viability on the low and high pressure sides of the system as the right step to follow before adding refrigerant. One other thing I want to thank you for is telling me that there is a special tool for the AC Orfice Tube. The first time my buddy pulled that out with a pair of needle nose pliers I am pretty sure he damaged the Orfice Tube, which had some metal filings from the old compressor on its tip. We used the same orfice tube when we put everything back together and I am not sure it seated all the way in because we had a massive leak at the end of the orfice tube when charging the system. I also think we added to much refrigerant because the pressure was in the red zone at 100PSI, when it should have been in the 50 to 70PSI Green Zone. I think the amateur mechanic, who knows a lot more than me and who's very gung ho, didn't have the detailed knowledge that you had and therefore made mistakes which caused my system to fail. It's been a costly exercise. and I have already wast $280 on refrigerant that went straight into the atmosphere. Not good. I wish I had found your videos before I started this whole exercise. Thank you to you and your wife. You two are a great UA-cam team.

      Hi Richard! There isn't a way to increase the speed as it's been programmed in the EEPROM at the factory. If you have access to the dedicated programmer, then you should be able to reprogram the speed. You could call the place of purchase and see if they may have any other insight on your issue. Have a great day!

    So if you pull a vacuum with the micron gauge and it holds do you still need to pressure test before the vacuum?

    • @stuzman52
      @stuzman52 3 дні тому

      Technically, it sounds like this would be true. I can remember doing two jobs where each system held a vacuum for 24 hours and the gauge didn't budge at all. However, this was using the vacuum analog gauge and not a micron gauge. So, after filling the system with refrigerant, one system had low refrigerant in a month and the other system had low refrigerant in two months. So, both systems had an extremely low leak which didn't show up under vacuum. Therefore, it's always best to test a system under higher pressure with an inert gas such as nitrogen. This would show even the smallest leaks which wouldn't show up under a vacuum. And what if the micron gauge did show a leak? You would still have to use a pressure test to find the leak. Thanks for the question and hope you have a great day!

    You make a good case for why vacuum test can't be used instead of a pressure test. You explain that is because the analog gauges have low resolution and you wouldn't be able to see a tiny leak. But we know a micron gauge has way higher resolution. Would it be ok to rely on a vacuum decay test with a micron gauge to detect tiny leaks?

    • @stuzman52
      @stuzman52 7 днів тому

      Sure, no problem at all at most micron gauges have this feature built in them.

    Good videos.. 1) He did not mention it, but he did shut off the supply of N2 to the system by turning the low pressure valve off...if you fail to do this the bubble test will still be valid, but the decay test won't be as N2 will still be supplied from the regulator. 2) You could purge the full line set and inside unit by waiting to tighten the upper flare fitting while you let some N2 into the system.. to remove air and moisture. This would give you the best decay test (less effected by temperature changes) I'm no HVAC expert just a Mech Engineer about to install a Mini split.

    When Sirius has their free weekends my radio would not work correctly (2017 F150) slow to respond when I try to change things. I took it to the dealer for another thing and I still have my extended warranty. The radio is covered if it was broke but I was told it just needs and update $178. He told me I could do it myself......found this AND.... I have to admit....although it looked easy I was worried to try. BUT I did it as you said and couldn't be happier.
